You handle the mat. We handle everything else.
Team management for wrestling programs. One app for coaches, parents and athletes: the schedule, team messages, attendance, dues and every athlete’s progress.
You can't always control the motivation of athletes who come to practice.
Skill, effort, athleticism and dedication can range drastically in a room. Some athletes come to practice prepared physically and mentally, while others show up and need to be told what to do.
Over time this can create a partner problem.
Youth and high school rooms already have a wide range of ages, sizes, experience and motivation, but that can be overcome with partners who share a common goal and push each other to reach it.
So how do you close the gap?
In some cases a kid wants to get better but lacks guidance outside the room to direct their energy. How do you give the athletes who want to get better a partner to push them? Start by giving every athlete a roadmap to success, with clear, common goals they can achieve. Matside puts the tools in each athlete's hands; you provide the path.
A roadmap to success, and the tools and motivation to get there.
Most team apps stop at the schedule and chat. Matside follows the athlete through their season and career.
Athletes see exactly which techniques stand between them and their next stripe or belt, and how close they are.

MasterTechnique graded on key points: the fundamentals at novice, finer hand and body position as levels advance.
Every move on video.
Each technique has its video and the key points to get it right.
Athletes see where they stand on the move, flag it for their coach’s help list, and keep their own cues on it. Coach feedback shows up right under the key points.
Goals they set for themselves.
A season target, something to sharpen at practice, a first pin. Athletes write their own goals and check them off.
Their journal keeps goals, notes and a log of every practice in one place, and it’s theirs alone.
Badges for real milestones.
Keep young athletes engaged and motivated by awarding badges as they reach milestones on and off the mat: first match, first pin, a comeback win.
Every technique earns its own badge as the coach rates it, from first learning it to full mastery.

A sample of the badges. Many more are waiting to be earned through the season.
Kids on the roster. Parents in control.
Most of your roster is under 18. Matside was designed to protect minors from day one.
Every practice and meet, in your calendar.
Subscribe once and schedule changes show up in your own calendar app.
See which practices are expected and which are optional, and answer “I’ll be there?” so the coach knows who’s coming.
Every charge for every kid, in one place.
Pay by card from the app or the web.
You see the full total, service fee included, before you pay. If a family pays another way, you can mark it paid.
Every coach can teach it the same way.
Youth program coaching staffs are often built from volunteers and parents with different backgrounds in the sport.
Shared practice plans and one technique library with video means different groups can learn moves with the same setup, and the same cues. New coaches get a place to refresh their technique and the head coach sets the path.
Set the path for each level.
The head coach assigns techniques to every level and stripe.
That curriculum becomes each athlete’s roadmap: they see exactly which moves stand between them and their next stripe.
See who needs help, and on which moves.
Athletes flag techniques from their journal or the technique page.
The most-requested moves rise to the top of the coach’s Train tab, so you know what to drill next. Athletes who have met every criterion for their next stripe or belt are listed right below.
Evaluate and promote from the mat.
Pick an athlete, score each technique from Learning to Mastered, and leave feedback they can read.
When the criteria are met, promote them to their next stripe or belt in two taps. Every rating earns its badge on the athlete’s side.
Take attendance from the mat.
Per-event check-in for staff. Attendance builds each athlete’s record across the season, and counts toward badges like 25 practices and Perfect month.
Groups by weight, age or level.
Drag athletes into practice groups and reorder them as the season changes.
Then schedule, plan and message for each group.
Run the whole program from one place.
Athletes, coaches and guardians on one roster, with every guardian linked to their kids.
Invite athletes and families with your team invite, and add staff as coaches or team managers.
The whole team, a group, or one person.
Every team gets an all-team chat. Staff can start group chats for varsity, the coaching staff or a tournament trip, private or open for anyone on the team to join.
Members can message a teammate directly. Announcements go out in the app and by email, so there’s no more “I never got the text.”
Know who’s paid without chasing anyone.
Create dues, tournament fees or gear billing, and see what’s outstanding and collected at a glance.
Card payments go through Square, straight to your program’s account. Overdue athletes are flagged for you, and refunds and payments you mark paid are recorded in the same ledger.
Sign-up sheets for everything else.
Tournament entries, carpools, volunteers and team meals, free or paid.
Families sign up from the app, and you see who’s filled each spot.

What does it cost?
Teams choose a yearly plan: Team is $300 a year, and Club is $500 a year and adds the season planner. Both include unlimited members and start with a 14-day free trial. Payments families make in the app carry a service fee of 1% + $0.10 plus card processing, shown before they pay.
Can I use it on a computer?
Yes. Log in on the web with the same account you use on your phone. Your team, roster and payments are all there.
How do families pay?
By card through Square, from the app or the web. Money goes to your program’s Square account. If a family pays another way, you can mark the fee paid.
My kid wrestles for two clubs. Do I need two accounts?
No. One parent account covers every child on every team that uses Matside.
How long does setup take?
Roster, schedule and dues in one sitting. Add your roster, set your practice schedule, and invite athletes and guardians with your team invite. Most coaches are live the same night.
Do parents or athletes pay anything?
When you pay a registration or team fee by card, a service fee is added at checkout. It covers Matside’s 1% + 10¢ and the card processing cost, so on a $50 fee it comes to $2.43. You’ll see the full total before you pay. Certain in-app features can include subscription fees. See app for details.
Is my athletes’ data safe? What about minors?
Athletes under 18 get an account linked to a parent or guardian. Staff see what they need to run the team, and other families don’t see your child’s details.
Can assistant coaches have access?
Yes. Invite them to your team as a coach or a manager. Coaches run practice: attendance, practice plans, technique and evaluations. Managers help run the team, and you choose whether they can also manage members and payments. As the owner, you decide each person's role.
Is it only for wrestling?
It’s built for wrestling, but designed to work for jiu-jitsu and other grappling programs just as well.
